Monster Beverage first half net sales up

Core Tip: Monster Beverage has reported net sales of $1.115bn in the half year (H1) ended 30 June 2013 compared to net sales of $1.047bn in the same period in 2012.
Monster Beverage has reported net sales of $1.115bn in the half year (H1) ended 30 June 2013 compared to net sales of $1.047bn in the same period in 2012.

Gross profit for the company was increased from $548m in first half of 2012 to $588m in 2013.

The American beverage firm has also posted net income of $170m for the H1compared to the net income of $185m in the same period in 2012.

Monster Beverage chairman and chief executive officer Rodney Sacks said that despite the single digit category growth rates, the company's Monster Energy brand continued its growth.

"Monster Energy® Zero Ultra, launched in the third quarter of 2012, has become one of our best-selling products. Following on this success, we launched Monster Energy® Ultra Blue in March 2013," Sacks added.

"We are continuing with our plans to market the Monster Energy® brand in new international markets.

"We reiterate that our energy drinks are safe, based on both our and the industry's long track record and the scientific evidence supporting the safety of our ingredients."
