International Beverage Holdings (IBH), a Hong Kong-based company formed as an international arm of ThaiBev, has rolled out its Balblair Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskey 1969 in London.
Produced in 1969, the whiskey was made from barley grown at the site and was distilled in old coal-fired stills. It was then allowed to mature for 43 years in American Oak, ex-bourbon remade hogshead casks.
The 41.4% ABV whiskey contains natural colors and is un-chill filtered and bottled at natural strength. The vintage is limited to only 999 bottles.
IBH distillery manager John MacDonald said the vintage has spent many decades maturing slowly and they have taken adequate measures to wait and bottle the spirit.
"I'm confident whisky enthusiasts around the world will agree when I say it has been worth the wait," MacDonald added.
Balblair 1969 will initially be made available in the US in 2012 at a retail price of $3500. It will then be released in 2013 in other major markets like the UK, France, Russia and South East Asian countries.
