Alltech has launched Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout beer, a fourth beer to its Kentucky Ale stable of brews.
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout, which is a coffee stout, uses 32 pounds of Haitian coffee launched by Alltech.
The beer will be on sale later the week or next week at stores in Kentucky and Ohio in US and is expected to be priced between $12.99 to $13.99 for a four-pack.
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout beer, which has been tested since early 2012, is the first beer unveiled by Alltech since Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, introduced in 2006.
According to master brewer Ken Lee, Alltech brews the beer with coffee and stores on coffee beans after fermentation to get vanilla and caramel aromas without adding bitterness, which is then aged in bourbon barrels.
Lee was quoted by Kentucky.com as saying that Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout is a complex and pleasing version of the classic beer style.
