ALDI has voluntarily recalled its Carlini Baking Spray as a precautionary measure, due to incorrect gluten-free labeling. The label states that the product is “made with Real Flour” and is a “Naturally Gluten-Free Food,” which are contradictory claims.
The Carlini Baking Spray is made with real wheat flour and consumers who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat or gluten could become ill if they consume this product.
The 5-ounce Carlini Baking Spray was an ALDI Special Buy product that was available in stores beginning Oct. 28, 2012. Upon notification of this labeling error, ALDI immediately removed all affected product from store shelves. Carlini Butter Spray, Carlini Canola Oil Spray and Carlini Olive Oil Spray are not affected by this voluntary recall.
At ALDI, we take the safety and integrity of the products we sell very seriously. Customers who have wheat or gluten sensitivities should discard the product or they may return it to their local store for a full refund. In addition, customers with wheat or gluten sensitivities should seek medical advice if they experience a food reaction after consuming the product.
No illnesses have been reported.
