Icelandic appoints Jon Gardar Gudmundsson as execs

Icelandic Group has appointed Jon Gardar Gudmundsson as managing director of corporate development.

Gudmundsson returns to Icelandic, having served as CFO of the company’s subsidiary Iberica in Spain from 1999 to 2033. He most recently served as managing director of Glacier Securities. Gudmundsson also served as managing director for Glitnir Bank where he led numerous projects with major companies in the global seafood industry.

“Jon Gardar has a proven track record in the global seafood industry as an advisor to harvesting, aquaculture and distribution companies,” said Magnús Bjarnason, CEO of Icelandic Group. “His significant expertise and success in this field will help Icelandic Group maximize its impact.”

In addition, Icelandic also announced Jón Thor Klemensson has joined the company as the managing director of Fiskval. Klemensson previously served as ground fish division director at Vinnslustöðin hf from 2010 to 2012 and as purchasing and processing manager at Icelandic U.K. from 2006 to 2010.

“Jón Thor has vast experience in the Icelandic and the U.K. fisheries sectors and it is with great pleasure that we welcome him on board,” said Bjarnason.
