The yearly value of catch of Icelandic vessels decreased by 6.8 per cent from February 2013 to January 2014, reports Statistics Iceland.

The total value of demersal species decreased by 5.2 per cent during this time.

In January 2014 Icelandic vessels caught 9.3 per cent less cod than in January 2013. The value of the total catch was 38.7 per cent lower in January 2014 than in January 2013, mostly due to low capelin catches.
