A development near the intersection of Chesterfield Airport Road and Public Works Drive is bringing Chesterfield its first Wendy's Restaurant along with a Valvoline Oil Change Shop.

Construction has begun on the Valvoline station, which is located just west of Villa Farotto, with the building's cement foundations already poured. Crews were out in the gray, chilly weather Monday and a representative with general contractor Thill Contracting said he expects the oil change shop to open in mid-March.

Chesterfield Chief Engineer Aimee Nassif said work should begin soon on the Wendy's as well. The project was initially approved over the summer but was then delayed when some minor changes were made to the site plan.

It would mark the first establishment in Chesterfield for the fast food chain, which is also opening a location nearby in Ballwin.

The two parcels containing the Valvoline and Wendy's are part of a slightly larger, 6.72-acre development and the property is owned by THF Realty. No plans have been announced yet for the remaining portion, but Nassif estimated it could potentially hold two more businesses.
