Tea producer O’Sulloc has won a five-year contract to supply green tea to the outlets of Starbucks in South Korea.
This move follows fall in demand for Japanese tea at the Starbucks outlets.
Starbucks Korea official Cecilia Song was quoted by The Jeju Weekly as saying that the new green tea is the result of five years of joint development.
O'Sulloc researcher Minseok Lee was quoted by the news website as saying that with the five-year contract, the company will have an international exposure.
Prior to the Starbucks contract, South-Korea-based O'Sulloc was catering to domestic market, but now there is scope to grow internationally, Lee added.
