Bombay High Court in India has said that lactic acid used in the making of Parle Kaccha Mango Bite is safe for consumption.

The verdict was given based on the regulations under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, reported the fnbnews.com.

Parle Products spokesperson said that the company has filed the case against the Food and Drug Administration Maharashtra as lactic acid is used in the production of wide range of food products.

The company halted operations at its manufacturing units at Nashik and Khopoli, following the filing of the case by the FDA.

Meanwhile, Food and Drug Administration Maharashtra Food joint commissioner K B Sankhe said the agency will go through the verdict and decide the future course of action.
