Honest Tea, a business unit of the Coca-Cola Co., is introducing Honest Fizz, a carbonated soda that will be available beginning in February. The company will initiate a “soft launch” in Whole Foods Markets nationwide and then make the new product available for nationwide distribution to natural food and specialty retailers in March.
Honest Fizz will be available in 12-oz “sleek” cans and be featured in four flavors: orange, root beer, cherry and lemon lime. The root beer variety is organic while the other three flavors will be marketed as “naturally sweetened.” Stevia and erythritol are the two sweeteners the company is using in the new product line. All of the products have zero calories, according to the company.
In 2011, the Coca-Cola Co. acquired Honest Tea. Coca-Cola’s Venturing and Emerging Brands business unit had acquired a minority stake in Honest Tea in 2008 and the company exercised its option to acquire the entire company in March 2011.
