Sternchemie, who produce MCT (medium-change triglycerides) oil, has announced that it now offers RSPO-certified MCT oil. As part of its commitment to sustainability, the company says that it has undertaken to comply with the principles and criteria of the RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and worked intensively with its raw materials sources to build a supply chain for certified palm oil and palm kernel oil.
The criteria of the RSPO are, according to the company, in accord with the responsible policy of Sternchemie. The goal is to promote the environmentally and socially responsible cultivation and production of palm oil and palm kernel oil. With its ability to supply Mass Balance MCT oil, Sternchemie believes it is in a position to meet the growing demand for sustainably made products.
MCT is said by Sternchemie to be uniquely multifunctional, valued for its nutritional and physiological as well as its functional properties. It is used in many applications in food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, as a carrier substance, anti-caking agent, solubiliser and viscosity modifier.
The RSPO was founded in 2004 to promote the sustainable cultivation of oil palms and the use of products made from them. As a producer of MCT oil, Sternchemie processes fractions of palm oil and palm kernel oil.
