Costa Express, Intel unveil new coffee vending device in New York

UK-based Costa Coffee, in collaboration with Intel, has unveiled a new advanced coffee vending device CEM-200 for its Costa Express self-service espresso bars at the National Retail Federation conference in New York on 13 January 2013.

BSQUARE, a US-based embedded solutions provider, has integrated the coffee vending device with new embedded technology.

CEM-200 features a high definition touch screen panel with Intel AIM Suite technology, which detects when customers eyes aer looking at it and changes the presentation on the screen to engage the customer.

The device not only offers coffee to customers but also engages an immersive experience to them.

CEM-200 device cabinet was conceived by Italian design firm Pininfarina. The coffee machine components are manufactured by Swiss coffee equipment vendor Thermoplan and graphics by Atomhawk.

Costa Express managing director Scott Martin said, "Our existing concessions are hugely successful in the channels where we currently operate, and the CEM-200 will now enable us to offer great espresso drinks to customers in new channels and markets."
