French firms Agrial and Eurial have confirmed plans to combine their dairy businesses and create the country’s second largest dairy co-operative behind Sodiaal.
The merged businesses will have turnover of just under €2bn and produce more than 2 billion litres of milk per year as well as goat’s cheese, fresh dairy products and cheese ingredients.
“Agrial and Eurial share a common vision of the future of France's dairy sector and the changes which lie ahead with the end of dairy quotas in 2015. Together, they will put the accent on added value and growth offered by rapidly developing international markets,” said a joint statement by the firms.
The integration of the businesses is expected to be completed next year.
