Specialist bottler Cobevco has installed a new Rapak filling machine at its plant in Cheshire, UK, which will allow the bottler to offer bag-in-box packaging for beverages.
To set up the new packaging unit, the company has invested around £2m. The bottler will commence operations of the new filling machine by the end of May 2013.
The company has already signed up with many wine producers and expects some more brands to sign up to fill their beverages in the new packaging format in the near future. The new filling machine will allow Cobevco to fill a minimum of 200,000 liters of wine per week.
Cobevo managing director Adrian Curry said that as there is a huge demand for different wine products among consumers, more producers are opting for bag-in-box format.
"By adding this capability to our services, we can give producers the variety of filling solutions that they need to satisfy retailers and consumers in the UK. It also opens up growth opportunities further afield in markets such as Scandinavia, where bag-in-box is already well established with consumers," Curry added.
Cobevo also provides glass bottle filling and packaging, on-site bonded storage and consolidated product deliveries.
