Sanford LimitedEric Barratt, managing director of New Zealand-based Sanford Limited, is retiring after 15 years with the company.

Jeff Todd, chairman of the company’s board of directors, announced Barratt’s decision during the company’s annual meeting in Aukland. Barratt, Todd said, will stay on until the board finds a successor, or until 31 December 2013, whichever comes first.

“The board accepted his notice of retirement reluctantly, but I am delighted to report Eric has agreed to assist the board as it enters into a process of international search for his replacement,” Todd said.

Todd also announced the retirement of David Anderson, who joined Sanford’s board in 1982 and served as managing director from 1991 to 1997. He also served as deputy chair of the New Zealand Fishing Industry Board and President of the New Zealand Fishing Industry Association. He was also a respected member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Oceans Policy.

“David, your wisdom and knowledge of the industry will be missed at the Board table and your experience and understanding of our fishing fleet will be hard to replace,” he said.
