You know shrimp's getting really pricey when people steal it for profit. Police on Long Island, New York, have arrested four alleged drug addicts, accusing them of stealing frozen shrimp
from supermarkets over the last two months and selling it to a Chinese restaurant to pay for their habits.

Police said the four, who live together in the same home in Calverton, made off with bags of frozen shrimp totaling $2,400 in value -- $20 a bag. But they sold the shrimp to the Chinese
restaurant in Mastic Beach for only $5 a bag. The restaurant owner has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property.

The stolen shrimp case came barely a week after several Long Island Railroad workers were arrested for stealing copper from a rail yard and selling it to a scrap dealer for more than $250,000 all told. Copper thievery has become a national problem, with copper supplies short and demand high.
