In response to growing consumer demand, Chr. Hansen will expand its production facilities with plans to build the world's largest freeze-drying plant for pharmaceutical-grade probiotic cultures in Denmark. Sales reached $27.9 billion in 2011 and are estimated to reach $44.9 billion in 2018.

Customers can expect a state-of-the-art facility with a high level of hygienic design. The layout will allow visitors to observe and inspect the main operations and equipment during the production process. The plant also has been designed to improve working conditions, it was pre-approved according to occupational health and safety standards before construction work was started. The plant is expected to be finished in Spring 2014.
