US-based food firm Baobab Foods is set to manufacture nutraceutical products featuring baobab imported from Afriplex in South Africa.
The expansion into the nutraceuticals market will take place through development of private-label products in collaboration with other companies.
Baobab has already created a range of Baobest brand products featuring baobab, which include Fruit Cubes, Fruit Powder and Drink Mixes.
The company noted that Baobab is rich in antioxidants, fiber, calcium, vitamin C, electrolytes and is naturally alkaline.
Baobab Foods general manager Stephan Broburg said that the company is seeking to enter into the nutraceutical market in order to boost the delivery of baobab products.
"In addition to exploring development opportunities for Baobest branded products, we're quite confident forward-thinking organizations in the space will also want to speak to us about incorporating baobab into their products," added Broburg.
Baobab Foods markets its own line of baobab consumer products as well as Baobest baobab powder to food, beverage and supplement manufacturers for use in their own product lines.
