The Closure and Container Manufacturers Association (CCMA) is set to merge with the International Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT) on 1 April 2013.
To facilitate transition, a group will be formed with representatives from both organizations.
With this move, CCMA members will be able to share industry guidelines and standards with a larger, more global audience
A number of CCMA efforts are already coordinated with ISBT, such as the Threadspecs committee which works on finish standards.
ISBT executive director Larry Hobbs said that with their packaging component knowledge and issue-based advocacy, CCMA will strengthen ISBT.
"CCMA members also will be able contribute to the ISBT's university program which offers students basic training on beverage ingredients, quality, processing and packaging," Hobbs added.
Founded in Washington DC in 1953, ISBT consists of over 1,000 members worldwide and focuses on the technical and scientific aspects of soft drinks and beverages. CCMA deals with three primary sectors: closures, containers and related packaging industry suppliers.
