Pressure sensitive label materials supplier UPM Raflatac has announced the launch of two adhesive upgrades which are designed to prevent the substance migration from packaging components into food.

The company noted that the launch is in line with the EU 10/2011 regulation, which aims to improve consumer safety by placing tighter controls on the potential for substance migration.

Classified as infant and baby safe, the new RP 36 FG and RP 36 ML adhesives have enhanced non-migration characteristics to further reduce the slightest possibility of food contamination. The adhesives are approved for direct food contact, including labeling carcasses, as well as indirect food contact.

The EN 1230-2 (Robinson test) revealed that the laminates of Foodgloss RP 36 FG and Foodgloss RP 36 ML achieve good results in a sensory analysis for indirect transition of flavor. The improved UV resistance provides the laminate and converted labels a longer shelf life for efficient and convenient stock management.

RP 36 FG also offers good clarity for optimal product presentation with clear labels.

UPM Raflatac provides pressure sensitive labelstock products that meets the needs of demanding applications in product and information labeling.
