Spain has banned the import of Dominican peppers due to the presence of Endosulfan in 0.14 mg/kg - ppm, according to information from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
France has also destroyed Dominican peppers containing Endosulfan in 0.32 mg/kg - pmm and Methomyl in 0.34 mg/kg - pmm.
The RASFF also reported the presence of several batches of Egyptian and Dominican spicy peppers containing residues, according to the following information:
Spicy peppers from Egypt. Reported by Switzerland. Oxamyl, in 0.31 mg/kg - ppm. Distributed in Switzerland. No action has been taken, as they were allegedly removed from the market as soon as their presence was notified.
Spicy peppers from the Dominican Republic. Reported by Belgium. Dicofol, in 0.16 mg/kg - ppm. Distributed in the Netherlands. Reported to the authorities.
France also reported the presence of pesticide residues in Dominican spicy peppers, which were then destroyed. The products found were Famoxadone (0.21 mg/kg – ppm) and Permethrin (0.11 mg/kg – ppm).
