Jubilant FoodWorks to expand in Northern India

Meanwhile, Jubilant FoodWorks has opened its first commissary in Mohali in the Indian state of Punjab, as its sees the region to be key to future growth.

The 25,000ft² commissary features latest technology and automated machinery, temperature controlled refrigeration and freezer units.

It will cater to all Domino's Pizza and Dunkin' Donuts outlets in five states namely: Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu & Kashmir, apart from Chandigarh.

The chain, which currently has 47 stores across the Northern region, will open the proposed outlets in Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand among others, with an estimated outlay of INR150m ($2.7m), reported Business Standard.

Commenting on the launch, Jubilant FoodWorks CEO Ajay Kaul said that North India is a critical market for the company and the consumers here have shown a great affinity to their brand.

"In the past few years, this region has seen a double digit growth in terms of system and same store growth," Kaul added.

Jubilant FoodWorks launched Dunkin' Donuts in India in April 2012 in Delhi. It offers a wide range of Donuts, Dunkin' Donuts Original Blend drip coffee; espresso coffee based beverages such as cappuccinos' and Lattes, fruit milkshakes, smoothies, tea, as well as a range of sandwiches.
