Caviness Beef, a beef processor with facilities in Amarillo and Hereford, Texas, bought San Angelo Packing, according to the San Angelo Times.
San Angelo Packing, a cattle slaughter and meat processing firm, closed in March after severe drought conditions led to declining supplies of cattle. It was owned by the Stokes family, and had been operating since 1983. Approximately 200 employees lost their jobs.
Trevor Caviness, president of Caviness Beef, said the Stokes family will remain part of the management team, according to the San Angelo Times. The company also plans to restore the 200 jobs, although former employees must re-apply for their jobs.
The company name will be changed to Caviness Beef Packers San Angelo.
