NewGem Foods is deputing its newest alternative sushi wraps at the 2013 European Seafood Exposition in Brussels, Belgium.
The product, called Origami Wraps, is being marketed for the first time in Europe as an “all-natural and healthy alternative to seaweed” for traditional sushi wraps. The wraps contain 75 percent or more fruit or vegetables, and do not contain additives, preservatives or artificial flavoring. They come in a variety of flavors, including Carrot, Carrot Ginger, Lemon, Lime, Mango, Mango Chipotle, Pineapple Habanero, Strawberry and Tomato.
“We anticipate the Origami Wraps product to break into the European market and continue the success that they have shown here in the United States,” said NewGem Foods CEO Matthew de Bord. “They will bring new and exciting combinations of flavor that will fuse traditional Japanese cuisine and uniqueness of American flavors.”
The company is bringing the product to Europe through a partnership between seafood supplier Culimer B. V.
