The WhiteWave Foods is set to invest $69.8m in its plant in Mount Crawford, Rockingham County, Virginia to expand its operations.
Currently the plant manufactures food and beverage brands, including Silk plant-based foods and beverages, Horizon Organic premium dairy products, International Delight and LAND O LAKES coffee creamers and beverages.
WhiteWave Foods supply chain vice president Jim Peacock said: "At WhiteWave, we are focused on investing in our Mount Crawford facility in response to increased consumer demand for our Silk, Horizon Organic, International Delight and LAND O LAKES products."
The investment is expected to create 36 new jobs in the region.
Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell said that the investment will help to add a new warehouse facility and machinery to increase production and meet market demands.
"WhiteWave Foods Company is a vital part of the Rockingham County business community, and this tremendous project ensures continued growth and the potential for additional expansion projects at the facility due to increased capacity," McDonnell added.
Virginia Commerce and Trade Secretary Jim Cheng said: "The company continues to choose to invest in Virginia due to the skilled labor pool, the proximity to the East Coast population base, and the available property that enables expansions."
Besides this investment, McDonnell has approved $800,000 performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Partnership program to WhiteWave Foods.
