A new whiskey firm Hunter Laing was formed by whiskey entrepreneur Stewart and his sons Andrew and Scott Laing at Park Circus in Glasgow, Scotland, following the de-merger of Douglas Laing on 30 April 2013.
Douglas Laing was an independent Scotch whiskey blending and bottling firm owned by brothers Fred and Stewart Laing.
Following the de-merger, Stewart and his new whiskey firm will take responsibility of the whiskey brands Old Malt Cask, Old & Rare, Douglas Blend, John Player Special and Sovereign.
It will also own a bottling facility in East Kilbride that will continue to provide service for third party companies and brands.
The company also plans to develop new products to meet the demands of consumers in Asia, North America and the Nordics. It also claims to have a network of importers and retailers that are spread around 65 markets.
Hunter Laing managing director Stewart said the industry is developing fast and small businesses must be flexible, innovative and use their relationships to maximum effect.
"The structure of Hunter Laing & Co will allow us to do exactly that as we build momentum with our portfolio of much-loved brands," Laing added.
