Wei Tang, Ph.D., has joined Novel Ingredient Services as director, Technical Services. Tang has spent more than 16 years in the chemical, food, and personal care industries. Her expertise is in technical services, raw-ingredient and finished-product testing and qualifications, and commercialization. She has extensive experience in developing organizational strategies, leading cross-functional teams, and optimizing cost-effectiveness. She is also well versed in technical transfer processes and new product launches. In her new position, Tang will provide technical expertise and support to both existing and new clients and contribute to various quality-improvement initiatives. She reports to Rick Antonoff, vice president.
According to Novel president Bob Green, Tang is a key player in the company's continuing expansion. "Wei will put her technical skills to use not only in developing client relationships, but also in identifying new business, application and market opportunities," he said.
Prior to joining Novel, Tang was senior manager at Avon Products and Sara Lee Corporations. While at Avon, she managed analytical, raw ingredient coordination, alternative raw ingredient coordination, and regulatory departments. Previously, she supervised the corporate analytical and microbiology labs at Unilever (formally Alberto Culver). She began her career with ExxonMobil Chemical in Baytown, Texas.
Tang holds a bachelor's degree from Sweet Briar College in Virginia and earned her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
