Botham’s of Whitby is recalling its Finest Quality Plum Bread in the UK because the product contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The product presents a possible health risk for those who are allergic or have an intolerance to milk or its constituents.

The product being recalled is Botham's of Whitby Finest Quality Plum Bread, belonging to all best before dates between and including 13 May 2013 and 24 June 2013.

Botham's of Whitby has withdrawn the above product from sale. In addition, point-of-sale notices will be displayed in stores that sell the product, explaining the reason behind the recall.

The company has also contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the withdrawal.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or its constituents are requested to not eat it, but contact the company for further advice.

No other Botham's of Whitby products are known to be affected.
