Asher’s Chocolates/Lewistown Inc. is recalling 41 different chocolate and snack products from retailers nationwide after routine testing by the company returned positive results for Salmonella.
“In our 124 years of business, we have never previously detected Salmonella in our testing. We are working and cooperating fully with the U. S. Food & Drug Administration on this voluntary recall,” President and CEO Jeff Asher said in the recall notice. “We apologize to our retail customers and consumers and sincerely regret any inconvenience.”
Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products are urged not to eat them.
No illnesses had been reported as of Friday in connection with recalled products. No products manufactured by C.A. Asher Inc./Asher’s Chocolate Co. of Souderton, PA, are involved in this recall.
The recalled products from Asher’s Chocolates/Lewiston Inc. include multiple chocolates, chocolate bars, cellophane wrapped chocolates and individually wrapped chocolates.
Consumers can identify the recalled items by the production code printed on the side of the label.
