Core Tip: Employees at Wal-Mart Stores in Massachusetts, Miami and the San Francisco Bay area were scheduled to walk off their jobs Tuesday to ask the company to create better jobs.
EWal-Mart mployees at Wal-Mart Stores in Massachusetts, Miami and the San Francisco Bay area were scheduled to walk off their jobs Tuesday as part by a national effort by a union affiliate to protest what it sees as illegal retaliation against workers asking the company to create better jobs.

The Organization United for Respect at Walmart — known as OUR Walmart — said it expected workers in other cities to do the same.

To stress its message, OUR Walmart announced plans Tuesday for a nationwide "Ride for Respect" to take their concerns to executives and shareholders at the company's annual meeting in Bentonville, Ark., which is scheduled for June 7. The group said the ride — a weeklong, nationwide caravan with stops planned in nearly 30 cities before reaching Bentonville on Saturday — will give workers and supporters a chance to talk about the direct impact Wal-Mart is having on their lives.
