The latest tests conducted by the University of Castellón, in Spain, demonstrate that AMEC® plant nutrition products not only improve the fruit's quality until harvest time, but they also increase its post-harvest shelf life.
This is particularly interesting for fruits intended to be peeled, sliced, chopped, ground, seasoned, etc. by the processing industry and later packed in controlled-atmosphere bags or containers.
The main problems with these products are the long-term loss of their organoleptic qualities and the appearance of fungus. This is particularly the case of products such as berries, which have a short shelf life.
Producers must respond to consumer demands for fresh, healthy, good quality products that are also easy to prepare, but especially that maintain their original nutritional and organoleptic characteristics, while also having a higher content of antioxidants.
"Codiagro helps producers to achieve these goals by developing specific growing plans based on products whose main differentiation is their patented AMEC® molecule, a result of the firm's vocation for innovation," explain sources of the company.
"AMEC® is a unique temporary bio-stimulant, made from natural ingredients and not at all alien to the vegetable metabolism process, making it safe and fully biodegradable. It is suitable for both sustainable and organic agriculture," they affirm.
