TATA Coffee, an Indian coffee producer and exporter owned by the Tata Group, has opened a premium coffee extraction plant at its Instant Coffee manufacturing facility in Theni, Tamil Nadu.

The 100% export oriented unit (EOU), with a capacity of 4000 tons per annum, is expected to help Tata Coffee position its freeze dried coffee product at premium levels and increase its overall capacity by 30%.

The Theni plant produces and exports spray dried, agglomerated and freeze dried instant coffee. Freeze dried coffee retains aroma and gives flavor, color and appearance to the coffee.

The new extraction plant will add 2000 tons to the existing capacity.

Tata Coffee managing director Hameed Huq said: "The expansion of our Theni instant coffee facility illustrates our strong commitment to providing world-class premium coffees to our customers worldwide."

Tata Coffee has a capacity to produce 5000 metric tons of instant coffee per annum. International Tata Café, Mysore Gold and Malabar are the popular instant coffee brands which are exported.
