Anchor Distilling, a San Francisco-based importer and distiller, has entered into an agreement with Spirits of Gold AB, the parent company of Karlsson’s Gold vodka brand, to distribute the Swedish potato vodka in the US.
Made from seven heirloom potato varietals grown in Cape Bjare, Sweden, the 40% ABV Karlsson's Gold vodka is single-distilled through a copper column still and unfiltered to capture the flavors of potatoes.
Karlsson's managing director Christian Gylche said the company believes Karlsson's Gold Vodka offers something unique to American bartenders and consumers, and they are excited to see the brand evolve into a new era.
Anchor Distilling education director Alan Kropf said Karlsson's Gold Vodka is a natural fit in the Anchor Distilling portfolio of craft spirits with its inspired story and unique production process.
"It's such a distinctive vodka, whether enjoyed on its own or in a cocktail. We're looking forward to bringing its story to life in new and creative ways," Kropf added.
Karlsson's Gold Vodka will be available throughout the nation from August 2013 at a suggested retail price of $30 per 750ml bottle.
