Gruppo Campari has signed a deal to purchase Copack Beverage A Limited Partnership (Copack), an Australia-based contract beverage packer, for A$20m (€14.2m).

The acquisition includes land, buildings, production assets and working capital.

Established in 2007, Copack has been supplying Campari's Wild Turkey ready-to-drink packs in Australia since 2010.

The acquisition will allow Campari to strengthen its international supply chain capabilities, add flexibility to the local organization, heighten quality control as well as support innovation capabilities.

It also provides the group an opportunity to expand growth in Asia-Pacific region.

In 2012, Campari also launched American Honey ready-to-drink in Australia through Copack. The Australian market accounted for 6.1% of net sales for Gruppo Campari in 2012.

The other key brands of Gruppo distributed in Australia include Wild Turkey bourbon, SKYY Vodka, Campari, Frangelico, Aperol, Riccadonna, and others.

The current transaction is expected to close in third quarter of 2013.
