Domino’s Pizza in New Zealand has partnered with two local firms to renovate its 25 stores in the country over the coming few years.

Annan Interiors and Dimension Shopfitters have secured the contract to refurbish the pizza company's stores nationwide.

Under the revamp plan, Domino's Pizza will set up a food preparation bench which is in view of the customer, and a dough room which is located closer to the front of the store where possible.

A full signage makeover on both the exterior and interior of the stores with new logo, along with new uniforms for staff will also be part of the refurbishment.

The new move comes in response to customers' calls for more transparency in their food preparation. It was first tested in two stores in Australia in 2009, Scoop business reported.

Stores will receive a lowered portion of their counters; to cater to disabled people and children, a live TV monitor to track each customer's order, and the addition of a local historic image at the turn of the last century, to personalise each store.

Additional features of the store refurbishments include new customer foyers, using a mix of materials from stone counter tops to timber panelling finishes on the walls and polished concrete floors.

Domino's Pizza, which has refurbished 23 of its 84 Australasian stores, intends to have 60 refurbished stores by Christmas 2014.
