Growing genetically-modified crops in Europe is not a priority for Monsanto Company.
Jose Manuel Madero, Monsanto's president and managing director for Europe, told Reuters the agricultural biotechnology giant plans to withdraw all pending requests to grow new types of genetically-modified crops. Crops pending approval include maize, soybean and sugar beet, according to the news report.
Monsanto, however, said it would not withdraw its approval to renew approval for an insect-resistant maize, Reuters reported.
