For the second time in a month, a Pescanova subsidiary in Chile has earned the Global Aquaculture Alliance(GAA)’s best aquaculture practices (BAP) certification.

Acuinova Chile, a plant in Chacabuco-Aysen, Chile, earned the certification on 15 July, following on the heels of Nova Austral’s Porvenir plant getting the BAP certification earlier this month.

Acuinova processes more than 35,000 metric tons of Atlantic salmon every year, selling mostly to foodservice and retail customers in the E.U., North America, Japan, Russia, China, Southeast Asia and Latin America.

With the Acuinova certification, the GAA said more than 600 facilities worldwide have earned the BAP certification, a net increase of more than 100 facilities since 30 November 2012.
