As summer days keep rolling on, McDonald's Canada today announced that it has brought the popular McLobster sandwich to Ontario for the very first time. The McLobster will be on the menu until August 23, 2013.
"Ontarians have been asking us to serve the McLobster for years," said Anne Parks, Director of Menu Management, McDonald's Canada. "We listened and are excited to bring the McLobster and deliver an authentic Maritime taste experience our customers in Ontario can enjoy."
According to Parks, Ontarians also consume more fish sandwiches than in other places in Canada, so bringing this popular item to this province this year made good business sense as well.
"In fact, more than 40 per cent of the fish sandwiches, including Filet-O-Fish®, are sold in Ontario*so we felt strongly that the McLobster would be a real hit if we brought it here," continued Parks. "We're excited to begin serving this East Coast favourite to our customers at a great price."
As McDonald's customers' dining needs and preferences continue to evolve, this menu item was also recently updated in both Atlantic Canada and Ontario to include a lemon mayonnaise-style sauce, which caters directly to Canadians' tastes.
McDonald's Canada first introduced the McLobster as a seasonal delicacy in Atlantic Canada more than a decade ago. It is now a classic summer treat for many East Coast residents and a sought-after menu item for visitors in the area.
Priced from $6.79 plus tax, the McLobster is made with 100 per cent Atlantic lobster meat, celery, green onions, and a lemon mayonnaise-style sauce, shredded lettuce and served on a toasted roll and is now available at participating McDonald's restaurants in Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
