Walmart Canada on Friday opened its first supercenter in Atlantic Canada in the Halifax Shopping Centre Annex.
The store, an expansion of a Walmart discount store that opened in 2001, is one of 37 supercenter projects — new stores and expansions — planned for the company's current fiscal year across Canada. The renovated 145,000-square-foot store now offers a full line of groceries.
“We have worked hard to ensure all of our customers will enjoy the changes to the store, especially the addition of fresh food,” said store manager Anthony Brake in a statement. Walmart Canada currently operates 380 stores, including 217 supercentres and 163 discount stores.
Other Food retailers located nearby include Sobeys, Loblaw's Atlantic Superstore and Panet Orgainc.
