Aldi, Asda, Morrisons and Tesco Named Winners At Fresh Awards 2014

The Awards were organised by the Fresh Produce Consortium, the UK trade association for the fresh produce and cut flower industry.

Seventeen awards were presented to companies recognised for outstanding achievements in the fresh produce industry.

Overall Fresh Produce Business of the Year was awarded to AC Goatham & Son.

The company also picked up the award for Supermarket Supplier of the Year.

“A commitment to sharing the benefits of trading relationships is the key to AC Goatham & Son’s achievements and recognition as the best by the fresh produce industry,” said Nigel Jenney, CEO of FPC.

The award for Convenience Retailer of the Year went to Tesco Express while

Walmart-owned Asda was named Multiple Retailer of the Year.

Tesco also saw off stiff competition to win the Floral Retailer of the Year award.

Recognised by industry experts for its innovative advertising campaigns, discount grocery retailer Aldi won Marketing Campaign of the Year.

James Judd, category manager for fresh produce at rival supermarket chain Morrisons picked up the award for Manager of the Year.

The Fresh Awards are the “ultimate accolade” from the UK fresh produce industry to its very best, said Jenney.

We’re delighted to recognise strong leadership, innovation and business acumen among this year’s finalists and winners.”

Fresh Produce Consortium’s membership covers growers, importers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors, processors, packers, food service companies and other allied organisations.
