Pernod Ricard to roll out Spanish brandy Domecq 1820 in UK

With the launch of Spanish brand, the company aims to draw new consumers to the brandy category, which is currently valued at approximately £190m.

Produced at Malaga, Spain, the Domecq 1820 is aged for two years in American oak barrels and is bottled in Manzanares. The brandy is deep bronze in color and features notes of warm candied fruits and caramel.

Pernod Ricard UK marketing head Vicky Wood said Domecq 1820 is a credible Spanish brandy that stands out thanks to its unique blend of heritage and modern and contemporary packaging.

"Recent research amongst our 50- to 67-year-old ABC1 target consumers shows they are ready to welcome a new brandy from Spain, merging tradition and expertise with modern cues," Wood added.

Packaged in a 500ml bottle, the brandy will be available for sale at recommended retail price of £14 per 500ml bottle.
