Ole-Eirik Lerøy, chairman of Marine Harvest ASA, will be the keynote speaker at the Global Aquaculture Alliance(GAA)’s GOAL 2013 conference in Paris, France, according to the GAA.
Lerøy kick off the conference on 8 October with a presentation titled “Leading the Blue Revolution,” talking about how to meet the needs of an educated consumer in the future, using his own company as an example.
“As the world’s leading salmon producer, Marine Harvest aims to provide its customers all over the world with a delicious product with full traceability from broodstock to the plate,” Lerøy said. “Transparency, scientific documentation and sophisticated standards of operations are all key elements in securing this success story in the future.”
Lerøy has chaired Marine Harvest since 2010, and served as CEO of Lerøy Seafood Group, the world’s second largest salmon producer, from 1991 to 2008. Lerøy has also been actively involved in national and international industry organizations, including as chairman of the Norwegian Seafood Federation, chairman of the Norwegian Seafood Council and a member of the executive committee of the International Groundfish Forum.
