Unilever is making a $152.5 million investment in its spreads facility in New Century.

The investment will include an expansion and new machinery and equipment with $45 million going toward construction and infrastructure upgrades. The total plant size will increase by 50% to total 447,929 square feet. The company also plans to create 100 additional jobs with the expansion to add to the current 168 employees.

“The investment and expansion of our New Century spreads facility is a significant milestone in the history of Unilever US and is in line with our strategy of investing back for growth in America,” said Kees Kruythoff, president of Unilever North America. “We are further investing in our core food brands, and we’re excited about the growth this will enable.”

The New Century facility was acquired in 1984 from Kent Foods and manufactures CountryCrock, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, Imperial, Brummel & Brown and Promise products with current average daily volume being about 1.3 million tubs.
