The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) in Hong Kong has canceled the licenses of two food locations in Tsuen Wan on 25 August 2013, over repeated violation of Food Business Regulation by expanding the business area.
FEHD noted that it has suspended the operations of both the food premises for approximately four to 14 days late last year and earlier this year.
Of the two food locations, one is a food factory and the other is a light refreshment restaurant.
Commenting on the cancellation of licenses, FEHD spokesman said that six convictions for the breach were recorded against the food factory between last October and this May, and the light refreshment restaurant also had a record of six convictions between last July and this January.
"A total fine of $13,000 was levied by the court and 90 demerit points were registered against the licensee of the food factory under the department's demerit points system. Meanwhile, a total fine of $5,550 was levied by the court and 120 demerit points were registered against the licensee of the light refreshment restaurant," spokesman added.
The food locations with FEHD licenses must showcase a sign that indicates that the premises have been licensed.
