Just three years since launching, small batch specialist Edinburgh Gin has added a third flavour to its portfolio – Spiced Orange.
The new flavour arrives on shelves this month, joining original Edinburgh Gin, Raspberry Gin and Elderflower Gin. A limited edition for autumn and winter, Spiced Orange is “a warming drink” said the makers, infused with Seville and Valencia oranges, and ideal on its own, with soda or even Cava or Champagne.
“We wanted to produce a gin with a flavour to match the season. The colour of Spiced Orange is a reminder of autumn leaves on the trees, and the oranges give a hint of the cinnamon and spice flavours we all associate with this time of year”, said Alex Nicol, managing director of Edinburgh Gin distillers the Spencerfield Spirit Company.
The gin has an rrp of £17.99 for 50cl and £10 for 20cl, and will initially be available in major outlets such as John Lewis and Harvey Nichols, and niche outlets such as farm shops and delis. Further flavours are planned and suggestions are always welcome, the Scottish-based, family-owned Spencerfield told Harpers.
Spiced Orange will be sold under a partnership distribution agreement between Spencerfield and one of Scotland’s leading, independent family owned distillers, Ian Macleod Distillers.
“Spiced Orange is a great addition to the Spencerfield range and we’re convinced it is going to prove very popular as a long drink or a cocktail ingredient now that summer is behind us,” said Ian Macleod Distillers UK commercial director Neil Boyd.
