Müller has acquired Shropshire-based Nom Dairy UK Limited for an undisclosed amount, as part of plans to become a major private-label yoghurt supplier in the UK.
The move, which follows persistent rumours that Nom Dairy UK was up for sale, secures employment at the site and will provide a platform from which Müller Dairy can develop its presence in the UK private label yogurt market.
"This acquisition underlines our commitment to growing our presence in the UK, which along with Germany and the US, is a core market for Müller," Heiner Kamps, CEO of Müller parent company Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller said.
He added, "We believe that there are strong opportunities in the UK private label yogurt sector and the Telford facility will help us to realise our plans to provide customers with great products in this important market."
The acquisition follows Müller's purchase of Robert Wiseman Dairies and a chilled deserts facility at Minsterley, Shropshire from Greencore in 2012.
