The National Association of Corporate Directors has named Ingredion CEO Ilene Gordon as 2013 Director of the Year. NACD president Ken Daly welcomed the decision, describing Gordon as “a pioneer and a role model for board diversity”.
The award highlights directors with outstanding knowledge, leadership and excellence in corporate governance. In accepting the award, Gordon said: "It is a great honor to be named Director of the Year and particularly meaningful to be recognized by my peers.”
“I am grateful to the board of directors and the corporate officers at Ingredion and the other companies where I have served. They all have played critical roles in helping to advance what I believe are examples of good corporate governance."
Gordon has 30 years of collective experience on the boards of various companies, and has been the first female director for five of them. Gordon is also currently a director for International Paper.
