Econo-Pak, a US-based food repackaging company, is set to acquire a facility in Milford, in northeastern Pennsylvania, for an undisclosed amount, a development which will bring 400 jobs to the region.
The Milford township supervisors approved a conditional use application put forth by the North American Packaging, which operates as Econo-Pak in the region. The conditional use application was required as the company seeks to operate 24 hours a day.
Econo-Pak CEO P.J. Wieble was quoted by poconorecord.com as saying, "Fortune 500 companies send us the food and we reconfigure it."
The company makes smaller packages of bulk crackers sent by food companies. These products are sold across the country in club, convenience and grocery stores.
At Milford facility, the company is expected to handle cookies, crackers, muffins and candy from well-known manufacturers.
This acquisition will allow Econo-Pak to bring together two of its current operations under one roof.
