The success of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s wine has continued after an autographed barrel of wine from their Château Miraval estate sold for €10,000 at a recent auction.
The money raised from the sale of the organic white wine will be used to help fund a “green village” in the Kivu region Democratic Republic of Congo.
The 60-gallon barrel was signed by the Hollywood glamour couple and was sold at an auction held by the winegrowers of the Correns commune in southern France. Local vineyards provided 27 lots of bottles and barrels for the auction, which raised a total €24,000 for the Congo charity. The Brangelina barrel was by far the top seller.
Pitt and Jolie bought the 18-hectare Château Miraval estate in 2008 for €40 million. The pair enlisted the help of the Perrin family to produce a new label from the estate and in May this year the first 6,000 bottles of the Miraval Rosé 2012 sold out within five hours of going on sale.
