American retailer Kroger has received International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) Dairy Industry Safety Recognition Awards and Achievement Certificates for its nine dairy facilities.

The nine Kroger dairies include, Crossroad Farms Dairy, and Pace Dairy Foods of Indiana, Indiana; Heritage Farms Dairy, Tennessee; Jackson Ice Cream, Colorado; Layton Dairy, Utah; Tamarack Farms Dairy, Ohio; Tolleson Dairy, Arizona; Westover Dairy, Virginia; and Vandervoort's Dairy, Texas.

Kroger manufacturing vice president Erin Sharp said that the company is committed to continually improve the overall safety of its associates and is so proud of these nine facilities for their hard work to deliver a safe work environment for all employees.

"We appreciate the IDFA's recognition, which highlights our objective to be the safest company in America," added Sharp.

Kroger claims that its overall accident rate has been reduced by 76.3% since 1995.

In 2012, 782 retail locations, nine manufacturing plants, and one distribution center have operated the entire year without a recordable accident.
